Rooted on Martha's Vineyard, the Slough Farm Foundation is invested in the people, land, and initiatives that make this island thrive — from agricultural sustainability and food equity to broader community impact. Since 2018, our grant-making program has supported local farmers and tax-exempt organizations across the island.
At its core, the Foundation serves two principal purposes: funding its own nonprofit programming, farming operations, and housing subsidiaries, as well as select community partnership projects — and making grants to farmers and other tax-exempt organizations working toward a stronger, more resilient Martha's Vineyard.

History of Slough Farm Foundation
Established in 2016, the Slough Farm Foundation has spent the last decade defining its mission, deepening its roots, and establishing itself as a trusted presence in the Martha's Vineyard community. Now, with ten years of groundwork behind us, we are ready to put that foundation to work.
Childcare Subsidy
Since 2022, the Slough Farm Foundation has partnered with Martha's Vineyard Community Services to ease the burden of childcare costs for eligible island families. We know that access to quality childcare is one of the most pressing challenges facing island families today, and we are committed to being part of the solution — because every child on this island deserves a strong start, and every family deserves the support to provide one.
